Thanks to Volkswagen, students in Chemnitz will learn about hydrogen fuel cell cars

Volkswagen-Touran-hydrogenThe Technical University of Chemnitz is one of the top five universities in Germany, and for several years it has been very attractive to students in automotive engineering. It will be even more so now that its Institute for Alternative vehicle propulsion has received a fuel cell test vehicle from Volkswagen. This is a car from the second generation of Volkswagen fuel cell cars, a Touran HyMotion2, a car which has been though the Clean Energy Partnership fleet trials.

The handover took place in the technology center for electric traction in Isenbüttel, where Prof. Dr. Thomas von Unwerth, the TU Chemnitz representative, was very grateful towards the car manufacturer: “We want to thank our longtime partner Volkswagen for this vehicle. We will be pleased to provide our students with the latest engine technologies first hand, allowing us to prepare them for the future tasks of the automotive industry”.

It’s a fact that there are very few universities (!) with a fuel cell car on their campus…
