Will there be a hybrid version of the new Kia Cee’d?

Kia-Cee'dKia Motors will unveil a new generation of its important Cee’d model, at next month’s Geneva motor show. This model has never been offered in the American market, and Kia hasn’t released any plans to change that. But this model is very important for Kia, because it competes in Europe’s largest segment: compacts, where it fights against the Ford Focus and the Volkswagen Golf. This new Cee’d looks much more modern than the actual model, but this doesn’t explain the reason of its presence here. The Kia Cee’d has never been very green, it’s only average, but Kia had shown a hybrid prototype at several motor shows. It was fitted with a pretty light system, quite close to Honda’s Integrated Motor Assist, and pretty far from Toyota’s Hybrid Synergy Drive. Could it become real now?

Kia hasn’t released any specifications for this upcoming Cee’d, it will most likely get carryover engines, but there’s a good chance it may get a hybrid drivetrain in its lifetime to better compete with Toyota and Volkswagen. Stay tuned…
