A French man introduces the new Chrysler 300. Will that be enough?

This website is about green cars, and all car manufacturers today are working hard to make cars more fuel efficient, with new and better technologies. Well, all of them? The new Chrysler 300 isn’t an hybrid, and it does with a basic 5-speed automatic transmission, when most competitors now have a 6-speed. Olivier François, the French Chrysler’s CEO, introduced the car in Detroit today.

The Chrysler 300 is redesigned inside and out, mechanically and aesthetically, but it’s still instantly recognizable as the car we’ve known for about 7 years. It has a brand new V6, with the best power in its class (292-hp). Its V8 engine has a fuel saving feature that seamlessly cuts off half the cylinders at partial loads. This theory gives you the power of V8 when you put your foot down, and the economy of a four when you drive with minimal throttle.

Will that be enough when gas is $4 a gallon? Time will tell.
